Beyond the Words

ROE #9 and ROE SchoolWorks Launches a Parent Network to Support Families Navigating Reading Challenges

The Champaign-Ford Regional Office of Education #9 in partnership with ROE SchoolWorks is introducing a new parent-focused initiative aimed at supporting families of children with reading challenges and language-based learning differences.

“Beyond the Words,” a parent network launching this fall, is designed to provide a space for families to connect, share experiences, and access practical strategies to better support their children both at home and in school. The program emphasizes building confidence among parents while helping them better understand available educational resources, school-based supports, and intervention options.

The network will offer a combination of peer connection and expert insight. Sessions will include opportunities for parents to learn actionable strategies, hear from guest speakers and local professionals, and engage in discussions with others navigating similar experiences.

The meetings will be held at Martinelli’s Market in Champaign, with sessions scheduled on select Thursdays beginning September 17 and continuing through December. Each session will run from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., with spring dates to be announced.

In an effort to create a welcoming and relaxed environment, attendees will receive their first drink at no cost during each session.

The goal of “Beyond the Words” is not only to provide information, but also to foster a sense of community among families who often feel isolated in addressing their child’s learning needs.

Families interested in participating can register by calling 217-893-4921 or emailing info@roeschoolworks.org.
